MAGIC BEACH HOUSE KITCHEN
The Magic Beach House kitchen transitions the earthy farmhouse generosity of Tess and her husband Yves’ farming backgrounds, into a relaxed coastal style relevant to their beach-side surrounds in Midwest WA.
A warm nostalgic atmosphere of childhood holidays spent exploring regional areas has been curated with quality surface finishes like limestone, aged brass and quartzite - grounding the generous space alongside the pine and ocean landscape outlook. The freshly renovated and extended kitchen now has a generous and functional layout, integrated appliances and custom cabinetry to serve their relaxed family coastal lifestyle.
Now a light and inviting beach-side family kitchen providing relaxed day-to-day living, connected entertaining, and a convenient food-stop for their own kid’s childhood adventures with neighbourhood friends.
The Magic Beach House Kitchen is here, in all of it’s casual-luxe coastal glory.
All Minted Elevated Living kitchens deliver generosity, easy living, connection and an atmospheric quality telling the story of the home owner. These are the qualities that reign supreme in Minted Elevated Living’s owner and Director Tess Beagley’s freshly minted beachside kitchen, where she lives with husband Yves and their kids - Lotte, Jemima and Wilbur, in Geraldton, Midwest WA.
This kitchen floods with soft dappled light in the mornings, cast by the pines standing outside next to the front deck, providing a beautiful green outlook through the open servery. This connection with the greatly treasured front deck, gives Tess and her family a relaxed way to entertain and to enjoy many meals and sunset drinks, taking in the ocean views both inside and out.
The interior of the kitchen is framed with high exposed ceiling rafters, generous floor space proportions, beautiful cabinetry and textural limestone walls, creating immediate generosity and warmth. The limestone walls, natural quartzite benches, integrated appliances, custom cabinetry, fluted glass, aged brass hardware and generous windows to frame greenery and ocean outlooks, were curated by Tess to offer a warm earthy atmosphere, grounded with the natural surrounds.
Tess and her husband Yves both come from farming backgrounds and wanted to include stone walls in the kitchen, to create a familiar farmhouse style with a welcoming warmth and integrity.
“The warm combination of limestone and quartzite remind me of the rocky headlands along the never-ending beaches of Stokes National Inlet - a national park next to the cattle station we lived on as kids, 80kms west of Esperance. The inlet is framed with shady paperbark trees – the setting for many childhood memories spent exploring the rocky headlands and shallow reefs. Now, the stone and quartzite in our kitchen, along with salt mist wafting in through the windows from the beach reminds me of the summer adventures we had there as kids. Although this time the memories come with the smell of hot toast and coffee too!”, says Tess.
Capturing the ultimate layout to cater effortlessly to their family and social life with generous proportions and connection with other living areas as well as with the beach view, was a key priority. Following the renovation, the final kitchen size is more than double the original footprint - extending onto what was unused deck space to capture open beach views.
The kitchen is now a generous central space between key interior and exterior zones of the home. On one side of the kitchen the large sliding glass window servery opens onto the front deck. On the other, the island bench overlooks the dining area with glass bi-folds onto the generous back alfresco area, capturing the beautiful pine tree through its high and open gabled alfresco roof design. The kids bedroom wing to the North side (including four bedrooms, laundry and bathroom) and main living zones to the south side with ocean views, including an entry foyer, family lounge, dining room and large kids activity space with connected kids activity courtyard.
“The generous proportions, central location in the house and integrated appliances make everything feel so much more relaxed. Watching the swell while prepping food is a special treat and the kitchen servery onto the front deck has been a complete game changer. Space to feed the kids and their friends after a surf while their sandy wet feet stay outside on the deck. Plus having a connected spot for sunset drinks with friends and family, while having a second outdoor backyard entertaining area nearby has been special too.”
The cabinetry has been custom-designed to deliver visual design impact, thoughtful and generous storage; as well as seamlessly integrating appliances in convenient locations. Serving free-flowing family and entertaining life, with an uninterrupted visual flow.
“This focus on seamless, highly functional, convenient and well-planned cabinetry design and appliance integration has enabled the stunning textural quality of the stone walls, the beautiful quartzite benchtops and lofty, white exposed beam ceilings to sing as the absolute hero statements, along with the view. It is hard to explain the incredible impact this combination of functionality and personal style (what we refer to as ‘elevated living’) has offered our family, post-renovation. Definitely even more than expected.” says Tess.

"At our beach, at our magic beach, the old bed is cosy and wide. To the sounds of the ocean we sleep through the night.. adrift on the evening tide."
